Dreams come true in Louisville!

Last weekend we travelled to Louisville, Kentucky for the incredible Rooting for Robert Gala — and we came home with full hearts. The best part, as always, wasn’t the flights or the fancy dresses. It was the people.

We finally met new lifelong Morquio friends — Zane, Cooper, Robert, Colin, and more — kids who understand each other instantly without needing long explanations. At the zoo, they rode the same style of mobility bikes, navigating the paths side-by-side like pros. There’s something powerful about watching your child blend in so completely, not because their condition disappears, but because everyone there shares it.

At the hotel pool, the boys swam together, compared surgical scars, and swapped stories about hip surgeries, plates, and recovery timelines like seasoned veterans. Conversations that might feel isolating at home felt completely normal here. No awkward pauses. No over-explaining. Just shared experience.

And then there was the gala itself.

A beautiful, high-energy evening filled with hope and determination — and generosity. Together, that room raised over $900,000 for Morquio research. It’s hard to put into words what that number represents. It’s lab time. It’s clinical trials. It’s brilliant researchers pushing forward. It’s possibility.

Most of all, it’s community.

We left Louisville reminded that while Morquio can feel relentless, we are not alone in it. There is a growing network of families, scientists, and supporters who refuse to stand still. And being in a room — and a zoo, and a pool — with people who truly get it is something we will carry with us for a long time.

Until next time, Louisville!
